Rabun County*

As you enter Tallulah Falls at the Southern boundary of Rabun County in Northeast Georgia you’re in the Appalachian Mountains, surrounded by hills, waterfalls, and hardwood + pine forests. In the springtime, there are splashes of bright colors; yellow forsythia, pink Bradford pears, white dogwoods, and shades of green from the abundant mountain laurel and rhododendron. In autumn the mountains are alive with Fall foliage. We’re located in the county seat of the most Northeastern Georgia County – Rabun County. West on Hwy. 76 takes you past the Appalachain Trail, into Hiawassee, and on to Murphy, NC. East on 76 takes you into downtown Clayton, and further on towards the Warwoman Dell Recreation Area and over the Chattooga River into South Carolina. North from Clayton just a few miles and you’re on your way into Franklin and not far from Highlands. South, and you pass the Tallulah Gorge and head towards Athens. Surrounded by mountains and rivers, we really are right in the middle of a Blue Ridge Mountain paradise. We’re only 20 minutes or so from both South Carolina and North Carolina, and not much further from thousands of acres of National Forest in TN. Not to mention an hour and a half from Atlanta. *(some text from the City of Clayton website)

Anchorage Boat Dock

Meet our neighbors! Rent boats, grab a bite to eat, browse the souvenirs, or grab a rod and some bait. Anchorage Boat Dock was built by Ned and Ruth Stockton in 1959. Materials, including timbers and rock, were gathered at the site and the construction was done by Ned and members of the family (see the picture framed by our front door for a glimpse of the original). Susanne and Charles Poole purchased it from them in 1967 and it has remained a family owned and operated business ever since. As the lake has grown and boats have changed, the marina has constantly evolved and improved to meet the needs of friends and the community that calls Anchorage home. Seth and Nikki Poole run the day to day operations of the marina and have gladly embraced their role in continuing the family tradition and history of outstanding service Anchorage Boat Dock has within the community.
